Growing up in a close-knit community allowed me to daydream about my future with no fear of feeling uncertain. My family members, friends and neighbors created an environment that allowed me to ask endless questions and lead at an early age. With a beaming smile and a compassion for people, I always found myself wanting to help others. We didn’t know it at the time, but serving as the editor of my middle school’s newsletter, working on the yearbook staff in high school, and volunteering as Sunday School secretary at my church prepared me for my adult years. As it turned out, my desire to help others combined with a natural “gift of gab” led me to pursue a career in communications. I earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Claflin University and a Master of Professional Studies degree in strategic public relations from The George Washington University. With a passion for higher education and historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), I currently serve institutions with social media, public relations, marketing and communications needs.
